Travel Information - By Road

Croydon is a focal point on the main road routes between Central London and the South Coast, with access to the national motorway network via the M23 and M25. The A23 London to Brighton road links Croydon directly to the M23 and M25, while the A232 provides east-west links with Kingston, Sutton and Bromley.  There are many well sign posted public car parks surrounding the centre.

Off-Street

Croydon has 6,500 off-street parking spaces in the town centre including a number of multi storey car parks which are operated with automatic barrier and payment systems, while the open air car parks are pay and display.

Most of the multi storey car parks are run by NCP (www.ncp.co.uk).  The Centrale shopping Centre has its own car park (www.centrale.co.uk)

On-Street

Most roads in Croydon Town Centre are subject to parking restrictions.  Parking is allowed in marked parking bays, with time limits at maximum 2 hours.  Drivers must purchase and display a ticket from a nearby machine which will accept coins.  Penalties are imposed for infringement of parking regulations.

Disabled Parking

Disabled Parking is free to Blue Badge holders in all on-and off-street pay and display parking places.  In Poplar Walk the disabled only free car park provides direct access into the Whitgift Shopping Centre.  Disabled drivers bays are conveniently located in the multi-storey car parks and on the forecourt of the Fairfield Halls (for people visiting the Theatre).

Security and Safety

Croydon has an extensive Closed Circuit Television system which covers the whole of the town centre and most of the car parks.

Coaches and Lorries

There is a location for setting down coach passengers outside the Whitgift car park in Wellesley Road.  The Spice's Yard and Whitehorse Road car parks have facilities for parking large vehicles.
