There is a wide range of accommodation for visitors to the London Borough of Croydon. The Tourist Information Centre promotes establishments which are members of the National Quality Assurance Standards Scheme. Each establishment is inspected annually by trained assessors from the AA or Visit Britain (VB). Members of the Quality Assurance Scheme are graded according to quality, facilities and level of service. The grading is denoted by stars  ().  Any establishment which has no grading is not part of the Scheme, therefore quality cannot be assured.

Booking Accommodation

It is advisable to book your accommodation in advance. Once you have made your choice please contact the establishment directly. The Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is happy to make bookings for personal callers to the TIC but can only do so up to 48 hours in advance. (The TIC cannot guarantee that the required accommodation will be found).

Accommodation Grading

The AA and Visit Britain (VB) have joint grading schemes for hotels, guest accommodation and self catering.

Hotels
Hotels are graded from one to five stars. These indicate the quality, facilities and level of service. The more stars the higher the quality, level of service and range of facilities offered.

Travel Accommodation
These establishments provide good quality, purpose-built budget accommodation and are usually located close to town centres or main roads. All rooms are ensuite and meet a consistent standard.

Guest Accommodation 
Guest accommodation includes guest houses, bed & breakfasts and some hotels. They are graded from one to five stars. All establishments must meet minimum standards for facilities and services. More stars are awarded for higher standards of quality and customer care.

Self Catering
Self catering establishments are graded from one to five stars. The more stars the higher the levels of quality and facilities.

Complaints Advice

We hope you have an enjoyable stay in Croydon. However should you have cause for complaint about any of the graded accommodation establishments in the first instance please make your dissatisfaction known to the accommodation's management. If you are not satisfied with the result please put your complaint in writing to The Manager, Tourist Information Centre, Croydon Clocktower, Katharine Street, Croydon CR9 1ET or email touristinformation.centre@croydon.gov.uk.  We will pass your complaint to the appropriate authority and, with your permission, the establishment itself.
