Neighbourhood Partnerships

The Neighbourhood Partnerships were first set up in Croydon in 2000 and there are now ten Partnerships, covering the whole of the borough.  The purpose of the Partnerships is to consult, encourage comment on the provision of services locally and influence the policies of the Council and its partner agencies as they affect particular geographical areas.  Partnerships give you an opportunity to have your say about local issues and matters of concern in your neighbourhood.  Many different interests are represented - for example, NHS Professionals, Police Officers, Tenants' and Residents' Groups, Councillors and Council Officers regularly take part.  Each Partnership has an independent Chair and Vice-Chair who are chosen by the members and serve for up to two years.

Who can attend the meetings?

Anyone who lives, works, studies, or has business interests in the relevant area can get involved.  If you are interested, you may attend any of the meetings as an observer, regardless of where you live or work.

When are they held & where?

The Partnerships meet three times a year at suitable local venues like schools, colleges, Church halls etc.  Please contact the Neighbourhood Partnership Team.  Most meetings are held on Wednesday evenings, starting at 7.30 pm and ending around 9.30 pm.

How can I ask for an item to be considered for the Agenda?

As you can imagine, there has to be a limit to the number of items on the agenda for each meeting, but we can put suggested items forward for consideration if they are submitted sufficiently far in advance.  The Agenda for each Partnership is intended to be community, not Council-led, so if you want to have an item included on the Agenda, please contact a local Ward Councillor, or anyone in the Neighbourhood Partnership Team.

Can anybody ask a question or do I have to speak to my local Councillor first?

Anyone is free to ask a question and you don't have to speak to a Councillor beforehand.  However, in order to get through the business of the meeting, there has to be a limit to the number of questions taken and the Chair of the partnership will determine this during each meeting.

What information will I receive automatically if I'm on the Mailing list?

You will receive the minutes of the meetings of your Partnership, notifications of the next meeting, details of the venue, agendas for forthcoming meetings and any other general information about Partnership issues.

Will my details be kept confidential?

Absolutely, your details will only be used by the Partnership team and will not be divulged to any other party without your consent.  We ask from time to time if you are hAppendixendixy for us to pass on your details to other Council departments and partner agencies. If you ask us not to we will of course abide by your wishes.

I have special needs, what can you do to help?

We try to ensure that venues are suitable for people with limited mobility and/or impaired hearing. However, if you have other special needs, eg. you require a 'signer', please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to ensure that your needs are catered for at the meetings.
