Health services in Croydon are provided by:

The Trust finances primary care - doctors, dentists, opticians and pharmacists together with community care - nursing, health visiting, therapies, child health, family planning and community dentistry.

Hospital Services

For most services patients need to see their GP or dentist first so that they can write to one of the hospital consultants for an appointment if needed.

The Croydon Primary Care Trust commissions hospital services mainly from Mayday University Hospital

  • Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust
  • Mayday Patient Advisory and Liaison Service
    PALS is a new service which aims to provide patients and carers with support to sort out problems and concerns 'on the spot', where possible.  Working within the Trust, PALS staff are ideally placed to liaise directly with clinicians and other staff to deal quickly with issues raised.

GUM Clinic - diagnosis, treatment, information, advice, counselling and support for all sexually transmitted infections including HIV

Breastfeeding Drop-In Clinic - Friday mornings in the Antenatal Clinic, Mayday Hospital, 10am to 12noon. Support and advice.

Croydon Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre, 316-320 Whitehorse Road, Croydon - support and advice for people suffering from these serious blood disorders, and their families.

Accident and Emergency (Casualty) - Accessed via Mayday Road, Croydon. Open 24 hours a day for accidents and medical emergencies.

Minor Injuries Unit, Parkway Health Centre, Parkway, New Addington - for less serious injuries. Open weekends from 12noon to 10pm, public holidays and weekdays 2pm to 10pm.

Mental Health Services

In Croydon, Mental Health Services are provided in partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and are organised into three localities. Services are offered to individuals who have a serious and enduring mental health problem.

Hospital provision is at the Bethlem Royal Hospital and community care is provided via local resource centres.

There are separate Community Mental health teams for older Adults.

From the voluntary sector Mind in Croydon provides support to residents with mental health problems.

Learning Disability

Croydon Social Services and Surrey Oaklands NHS Trust work in partnership to provide services for residents of Croydon who are over 18 and their carers.

From the voluntary sector Croydon Mencap support children and adults with a learning disability together with their family members and carers.
