Active Lifestyles

We aim to improve the health and quality of life of Croydon residents by encouraging regular participation in physical activities. We offer reasonably priced activities in local facilities. They are accessible to most people, sensitive to different cultural needs and provided as part of the following projects:

    The Physical Activity Programme offers the opportunity for Croydon residents aged 16+ to become more energetic and healthy; no matter what size, shape and ability you are. We run courses aimed at introducing people to physical activity but also for the more experienced. The courses include everything from Tango to Golf. All courses are organised by experienced and friendly professionals in a relaxed setting. Please see below for the Physical Activity Programme.   • Walking for Health: (guided health walk programme Adobe PDF Logo)
    We run programs of led and self-guided short walks (1-4 miles) in local parks and open spaces. It's a great way to meet new people and become active! To join one of our walks or to become a volunteer walk leader please contact Active Lifestyles on 020 8726 6900 and ask for the Walking for Health Coordinator.
     
  • Get back on your bike! (cycling leaflet Adobe PDF Logo)
    A new course aimed at helping you to get back on a bike. If you haven't ridden for a while but want to refresh your cycling skills then come and join our instructors.
     
  • New Buggy walk - starts 10 September: (buggy walk leaflet Adobe PDF Logo)
    A free led walk suitable for buggy's and wheelchairs.
     
  • Physical Activity for Children and Young People: (Monks Hill Children's Activities Adobe PDF Logo and Thornton Heath Children's Activities Adobe PDF Logo)
    We are currently running a two year project in conjunction with Croydon NHS, schools and community groups in the borough; with the aim to tackle obesity through participation in physical activity. We provide healthy lifestyles Initiatives such as Fit and Active Bodies, BUST A Move- A before school, street dancercise class aimed at children, parents and teachers and Key stage 1 Disco and Party classes amongst other schools and community projects.

  • Exercise Referral:
    The Exercise Referral Scheme provides safe and effective exercise sessions for participants who have one or more risk factors for coronary heart disease and for those who already have heart disease. Doctors or health professionals are required to register with the scheme initially before they can refer patients.
