London Active Partnership Tennis Development Plan 2002-2007

The Active Sports Tennis Development Plan for the London Active Partnership will aim to achieve the following:

Stage One

  • Increase the local coaching opportunities and improve access to clubs.
  • In year one - 39 coaching centre programmes involving 800 young people.  At least 39 DCA coaches and 39 Assistant coaches also involved.
  • By year five - 157 coaching centres.

Stage Two

A network of quality junior clubs with club action plans and part of Active Sports and Club Vision.

  • In year one - 6 Active Sport/ Club Vision existing clubs.
  • In year one - 8 Active Sport/ Club Vision new clubs.
  • By year five - 70 Active Sport/ Club Vision existing clubs.
  • By year five - 24 Active Sport/ Club Vision new clubs.

Stage Three

  • In year one - 8 assessment days for U9 girls, 3 for U9 boys, 3 for U13 girls, 3 for U13 boys, 2 mixed, 2 MLD.
  • By year five - Identification/ mentor coaches to select young players for development squads.

Stage Four

  • In year one - 7 development squads for U9 girls (including mixed sessions).
  • In year one - 2 development squads for U9 boys.
  • In year one - 4 development squads for U13 girls (including mixed sessions).
  • In year one - 2 development squads for U13 boys.
  • By year five - 107 development squads.

Coaches, Volunteers and Officials

  • To provide the opportunity to progress with quality professional qualifications each year to ensure the quality and quantity of coaches, volunteers and officials grows and is sustainable each year.
  • To provide mentoring support for coaches, potential coaches i.e. existing young players, volunteers and officials.
  • To profile and actively develop 188 coaches in year 1 and 330 by year 5.
