Hockey - Constitution1. TitleThe association shall be called the "Croydon Schools and Youth Hockey Association". 2. Aim(a) To encourage the playing of hockey in Croydon Primary and Secondary Schools both private and state. (b) To bring together Croydon schools to play matches in the tournaments and leagues. (c) To encourage individual schools to take part in Surrey and national schools hockey competitions. (d) To pool the best players from schools in the Croydon Schools hockey primary and secondary leagues / tournaments to play in the U11/U13 Mini-hockey championships (boys/girls) were there is not the opportunity to play for their school or club. (e) To pool the best pupils in all Secondary Schools (private or state) or who live in the London Borough of Croydon to play for Croydon in the London Youth Games and to support the Primary School or the best primary school pupils (private or state) selected to represent Croydon in the London Mini-Youth Games. (f) To encourage pupils to play hockey outside of school by joining the junior sections of local hockey clubs. (g) To encourage pupils with talent to attend county trials, county coaching academies and talent ID days. (h) To help the London Active Partnership in the delivery of the five year active sports hockey plan for Croydon (2003 - 2007) 3. Membership and Finance(a) Full voting membership of association shall be open to all Croydon schools, both private and state. Non-voting associate membership is open to all non-Croydon schools taking part in the Croydon Schools hockey tournaments and leagues. Non-voting associate membership is also open to other interested organisation such as local hockey clubs. (b) The cost of entry into the Croydon Schools Primary tournaments and Secondary leagues is to be agreed each year, at the annual general meeting. This money pays for the hire and floodlighting of the pitches. (c) The "Croydon Schools and Youth Hockey Association" is registered with the Surrey Hockey Association and English Hockey England Ltd via the "Croydon Schools Hockey Club". (d) All Schools should registered individually with the Surrey Hockey Association and English Hockey England Ltd each year. (e) Full voting members of association may elect at the annual general meeting, a committee of officers to act for the association of which, at least two of the main officers should be teachers in Croydon Schools. (f) The four main officers of the association are:
Chairperson, Treasurer, Secondary Secretary and Primary Secretary. (g) One or more of the main officers of the "Croydon Schools and Youth Hockey Association" shall act as representatives at the Croydon Schools Sports Council, Croydon Hockey Steering Group meetings, the Surrey Hockey Association AGM and the English Hockey Ltd AGM. (h)The officers of the association will meet at least once a term excluding the annual general meeting. Matters of urgency outside of the AGM and committee meetings shall be dealt with by the main officers. (i) The four main officers will be signatories of "Croydon Schools and Youth Hockey Association" bank account with two signatures required on all cheques. In the event of the winding up of the association all assets and money will become the property of the Croydon Schools Sports Council. (j) The cost of affiliation to the association is to be agreed each year at the AGM, however the affiliation fee for non-Croydon is double the fee of the Croydon Schools to reflect that we do not receive any grant money from the other councils. 4. Annual General Meetings(a) The AGM is to be held at the beginning of the Autumn term and all Croydon schools taking part in the leagues must be represented at the AGM or present apologies for absence in writing. EGM can be called at other times by the officers of the association. (b) All non Croydon Schools taking part in the leagues may attend the AGM as non-voting associates. (c) Notice of the AGM shall be sent to all schools not later than twenty-one day before the date of the meeting. Particulars of business to be transacted, shall be circulated at least seven days before the date of the meeting. (d) A quorum at the AGM and EGM shall consist of not less than four full voting members of the association. (e) The following business shall be transacted at the AGM: 1. Major correspondence to and from the association, 2. Adoption of annual reports and financial report, 3. Alteration to the constitution, 4. Election of officers of the association, 5. Any other business. 5. Croydon Schools Mini-hockey Tournaments and Leagues(a) The Primary mini-hockey tournaments and leagues will take place on astro pitches venues decided by the association. (b) The primary leagues will be for mixed teams of seven players. Mixed Primary schools should have a minimum of two girls and two boys playing as field players. (c) Single sexed Primary schools of either gender may take part in the tournaments and leagues but must join up with a school of the opposite gender together to form mixed teams. (d) The Secondary mini-hockey tournaments and leagues will take place on astro pitches venues decided by the association. (e) The Secondary leagues will be for mixed teams of seven players. The Y7/8 team should have a minimum of two girls and two boys playing as field players and the Y9/10 team should have a minimum of three boys and three girls playing as field players. (f) Single schools of either gender may take part in the tournaments and leagues but must join up with a school of the opposite gender together to form mixed teams. (g) All field players should wear shin pads and a mouth guard. All school goalkeepers must wear a helmet, chests pad, kickers, pads and gloves in the tournaments and leagues. (h)
Schools from outside Croydon may take part in the tournament and leagues.
Priority for entry each year is: 1. Existing mini-league and tournament schools (Croydon and non-Croydon),
2. Other interested Croydon Schools, 6. Trophies, Certificates and Equipment(a) Trophies shall be presented to the overall winners of the association tournaments and leagues. (b) Certificates shall be awarded to the members of the winning, runner-up, 3rd and 4th placed teams. (c) The leading goal scorers (boys and girls) in at the different age groups will be presented with awards. Other awards may be made to other players (County, goalkeepers, junior umpires, players of tournaments). (d) Any equipment belonging to the association may be borrowed in consultation with the committee.
