2009/2010 Season - Under 12's

Monday 1 March

Riddlesdown Collegiate, Purley, had to be content with sixth place when - as recent South East England winners - they took part in the English Schools' Football Association's Under 12 Indoor 5-a-side championships at Powerleague, Derby, on Monday 1 March.

With the eight participating schools split into two groups of four, Riddlesdown narrowly failed to qualify for the semi-finals, missing out on goal difference.

Riddlesdown went through to the consolation final, but found Halewood College for Learning, Liverpool, too strong, losing 3-0.

Riddlesdown Collegiate reached their fourth final in the past four seasons when they won the English Schools' Football Association's South-East under 12 boys' indoor football event at the David Beckham Academy, Greenwich, last Thursday.

The Purley school boys, included Croydon Schools' FA borough squad members in their line-up, beat off the challenge of twelve district associations to go through to the national finals, at the Derby Soccerdome on Monday, 1st March.

But it was a close-run affair, with Riddlesdown edging through to the final on a penalty shoout-out.

Guss Ward scored his only goal of the day, sufficient to put Riddlesdown through, against previously unbeaten 'Greigg City Academy, Haringey

Croydon Squad: Callum Bufton, Jason Stripp, Gus Ward, Aijay Atiyota, Connor Moody, Ryan Ramsay, Ethan Dickinson and Leslie Addai
