7-a-side Surrey Schools Tournament (28th October)

Croydon Schools' Football Association's Under 11's narrowly failed to win the Surrey Schools' inter-district 7 a-side tournament held at Woking on Saturday.

Croydon started brightly with a 2-0 victory over Sutton A with goals from Bradley Robinson (Chipstead Valley) and Keiran Scantlebury (Davidson).

Croydon then took on Woking B and continued their fine form, cruising to a 3-1 win with Ollie Thornton (Woodcote) grabbing a brace and Luke Turner (Royal Russell) finishing off for the third goal.

Croydon then took on Sutton B side and narrowly lost to a superbly taken goal that Alex White (Atwood) could do nothing about. This seemed to dent the confidence of the side and despite numerous chances going begging they were held to a 0-0 draw with Godalming.

This left Croydon needing a draw in their final match against Woking A. Woking took an early lead, but when Scantlebury levelled shortly after half time it looked like Croydon were home and dry but a lack of concentration saw Woking break the Croydon defence down and with Croydon pushing on for the equaliser, Woking were able to break and emerge 3-1 winners, leaving a very disappointed Croydon team.
