Primary Cup Final

The long-established Primary Cup Final took place at its traditional venue, Addiscombe Cricket Club, on Thursday (3rd July).

Woodcote Junior School's lowly total of 55 runs was built on a fine innings of 23 from Arjun Chawla.

Elmhurst, in reply, found scoring difficult, coming up against good fielding, and good wicket-keeping by Darius Beglarberg.

Wickets fell at regular intervals and Elmhurst's chances of reaching their target got remoter by each over.  Neeraj Radia returned figures of 4 for 4, off 3 overs, as well as taking two catches.

Elmhurst's supporters were ecstatic for the first time in twenty years, a state school were winners of the Croydon Schools' Cricket Association's Primary Cup, previous honours being held by schools in the independent sector: Cumnor House, Trinity and Elmhurst.
