Haseeb made 108 and Vishal 51. ![]() The Archbishop Lanfranc Winners of the Courlander Cup ![]() St Joseph's College - Runners-Up Haseeb was again top scorer, on 55, when Lanfranc posted a total of 156 for 8 in the Under 15 League Final on Thursday. Opponents, St Joseph's College, looked to be in a good position on 72 for no wicket, with eleven overs remaining, but wickets fell cheaply and St Joseph's finished on 121 for 7.
Edenham High School won the Under 12 league final against St Joseph's in the Under 12 league final. Opener, Brandon Kenlock (70) held the St Joseph's innings together, cutting and pulling Edenham's opening bowlers square of the wicket at regular intervals. Edenham steadily reduced the scoring rate, aided by two run outs and accurate bowling spells by Ellis Rix (4 for 9) and Grant Leckey (2 for 15) enabled Edenham to restrict St Joseph's to 126 for 6 off their 25 overs allocation. Roshane Morgan (63 not out) spearheaded Edenham's response, finding a willing partner in Chris Fairman (14 not out). The duo put on 82 in twelve overs. Haling Manor's win in the Under 13 Final had CSCA officials thumbing the records to ascertain the last time that the school got their name on the honours board. The South Croydon side capped a fine year with an eight wickets win over St Joseph's, with eight overs to spare.
The team were well led by Hammad Azam as they restricted St Joseph's to 102 for 9 off their 25 overs. Five Haling Manor bowlers took wickets, with strike bowler, Rafiullah Ahmadi well supported and wicket-keeper, Steven Ripley producing an outstanding display. Azam anchored the Haling Manor reply, being unbeaten on 33, aided by important contributions from George Farrell, Ahmadi and Inatullah Mohammed. Haling Manor have enjoyed unprecedented success in 2006, being unbeaten and winning the Surrey indoor winter cup. The Under 14 League Final - featuring Shirley High School and The Archbishop Lanfranc School - produced the closest finish of the week, with the winning run coming off the last ball to clinch victory for Lanfranc by four wickets. Shirley's total of 111 for 9 was founded on scores of 39 by Ben Cooper and 24 from Peter Ley, who came good, putting on 51 valuable runs for the fifth wicket after openers, Steven Cox and George Howland were dismissed cheaply early in the innings.
Lanfranc were in pole position with their reply on 62 for 1 in the 14th over. Hassan Ali (28) and Waleed Mir (29) were in good form, but wickets fell and three runs were needed off the last over with four wickets in hand. As tension mounted Arjun Hiren scrambled the vital run. All four league finals took place at Trinity School's Sandilands ground, with excellent wickets prepared by groundsman, Richard Waltons. Trinity School retained the CSCA Primary League Foss Cup, with a comfortable win over Woodcote Junior School at Old Whitgiftians last Wednesday. but Woodcote gained some consolation by reaching the final of the Surrey Schools' 7-a-side competition, held at The Oval.
Woodcote Junior School reached the final of the Surrey Schools' 7-a-side competition at The Oval on Saturday, winning group matches against Waverley Abbey, Marden Lodge and Westbourne. But West Byfleet won the trophy in a high-scoring final with Woodcote scoring 95 for 3, but unable to prevent their opponents reaching the target for the loss of only one wicket.
