Northborough Road Playground
Located in Norbury just outside the Borough at the end of Northborough Road The purchase of land for a children's playground in the north west of the Borough was completed in July 1931. The site was part of the Standford Estate which included land in the Parish of Mitcham and the County Borough of Croydon. The area was part of a field above Pollards Hill Wood and from the shape of today's road layout, the playground and surrounding houses were built on the field. The land was conveyed as a public recreation ground or pleasure ground or children's playground.
