Located in Broad Green, at the junction of Mitcham Road and Canterbury Road (entrances from both roads)

Canterbury Road Recreation ground was acquired by the Council in 1931 to provide a much needed facility for the densely populated area of Broad Green.  The area had previously been the site of Waddon Marsh Farm which fronted Mitcham Road.

A map drawn in 1910 shows the farm next to cricket and football pitches but these were later dug up to provide housing plots in Wentworth and Sunderland Road.

The Recreation Ground was equipped with two children's playgrounds and an all weather sports pitch.  Today the pitch has been re-surfaced with redgra and is floodlit.

Crosfield Hall which is located between the Recreation ground and Canterbury Road was given to the County Borough under a Trust Deed for educational or public health purposes and was formerly used as a nursery school.  Today the Hall is used by a number of local groups, including a playgroup and can also be hired.
