It's hard to imagine how Kate Moss must have felt when she was 'discovered' by Sarah Doukas founder of Storm model agency. For the 14 year old Kate who was born in Addiscombe, Croydon and attended Riddlesdown High School, life would never be the same.

Her first appearance as a model came just a year later and by the time she was 18 she was the 'Face of Calvin Klein', fronting his underwear range and appearing nude for Obsession. She first appeared in British Vogue in January 1993 - appearing on the front cover just two months later.

Super models are often described as 'temperamental' and 'awkward', but not Kate. Comments such as 'she is famously easy-going'; 'Kate is great company, a truly nice person', from people she has worked with are just two of many generous compliments she has received.

However, Kate's phenomenal modelling success and the hectic lifestyle that accompanied it gradually took its toll, she ended up suffering from exhaustion and booked herself into the Priory Clinic in London.

Having taken time to recover and no longer under contract to Calvin Klein Kate has become more a style icon than a model and has appeared in several fashion-world documentaries.

Like most famous people her personal life is always under scrutiny and she has constantly been linked with one celebrity or another. She has a daughter, Lila Grace, born in 2002 whose father is Jefferson Hack but the relationship has since ended.
