Childcare Start Up Guide

Croydon Children's Information Service has put together this website to help you think about all the things involved in setting up your own childcare scheme.

Childcare schemes will develop in many different ways to meet the needs of local children and parents. Some offer childcare for a wide range of children, others may offer childcare for pre-school children, primary school or teenagers. Some have their own premises, others will be based in community centres or schools.  Some will be run by private providers, others by management committees of local parents and the community, or by the local authority.

Your scheme will offer new opportunities for children and parents, hopefully for generation to come - Good luck!

The list below provides answers to the most common questions of people thinking about setting up their own childcare scheme.  For further information contact Croydon Children's Information Service on  0845 11 11 100 to book your place on the next Setting up in Day Care or Becoming a Childminder meeting.
